Spouse go Free on Air India Flights

Air India launched a new scheme that will allow spouse of any passenger to travel free on domestic flights. The new initiative will apply to spouses of passengers who have purchased an Executive Class ticket for most of the airline's domestic flights.

Fuel surcharges are also waived from the free travel although passenger service fee and user development fee has to be paid by both passengers.

According to an Air India press release: "The offer will be available on all flights on the extensive domestic network of Air India except : Mumbai-Goa, Delhi-Coimbatore, Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram, Delhi-Kozhikode, Delhi-Kochi, Delhi-Bhubaneshwar, Delhi-Raipur, Delhi-Nagpur and Raipur-Nagpur and corresponding return sectors."

The offer will remain valid until February 28th.

Basic Fares Cut for Domestic Flights in india

Many domestic airlines in India have cut domestic fares in wake of falling fuel charges.

Air India has cut domestic fares by up to 82% in almost 20 sectors.Most of these are metro routes.

Jet Airways’ subsidiary, JetLite, also reduced basic fares on all its domestic flights. Fares were lowered by up to 40%.

On the other hand Kingfisher Airlines chairman Vijay Mallya also promised to reduce fares from January 1st.It is believed fares could be could be cut in the 10-15% range, which means fares could drop by Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.

Meanwhile, budget airlines — SpiceJet and IndiGo — are likely to trim fares by 8-10% from mid-January. SpiceJet director Ajay Singh confirmed it to ET, but declined to divulge exact cuts. He said the cut will be ”substantial” across sectors. ”An announcement is expected shortly,” he added.
